It commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and acknowledges the end of slavery in the United States.  \nJuneteenth is a day of remembrance\, celebration\, and reflection. It highlights the significance of freedom\, resilience\, and the ongoing pursuit of equality. By observing and understanding Juneteenth\, we honor the history\, culture\, and contributions of African Americans while striving for a more inclusive and just society. \nThe Belmar Public Library celebrates Juneteenth with a concert by the John Luckenbill Orchestra playing music composed by African Americans over the years.  We will also feature guest speaker Tasha Youngblood Brown as she talks about the importance of African American culture in American Society. \nBelow are some pictures from last year’s Juneteenth celebration. \nThis program is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
