This heartfelt book chronicles Anthony’s journey as the primary caregiver for his wife\, Carol\, who was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Degeneration (FTD)—a rare and devastating form of dementia.\n\nIn this talk\, Anthony explores not only the challenges of loving someone with dementia but also the emotional toll of witnessing them gradually slip away. He shares the transformative role mindfulness and compassion played in helping him cope. Drawing from personal experiences with anxiety\, depression\, and panic disorder\, Anthony reveals how those struggles unexpectedly prepared him to face grief and build emotional resilience\, ultimately leading to rediscovered joy. \nAttendees will gain insights into dementia and a practical meditation approach that helped the author reframe his pain and find peace. Through storytelling\, reflection\, and selected readings from his book\, this presentation offers inspiration and hope to anyone facing illness\, caregiving\, or emotional hardship. \nBooks will be available for purchase and signing. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) to support research and caregiver resources. \n\n  \nABOUT THE AUTHOR \n\n\n\n\nANTHONY P. MAURO SR. works out of his home near the picturesque horse farms of Colts Neck\, New Jersey. He is an accomplished writer\, author\, humorist\, businessperson\, and entrepreneur born and raised in the charming town of Monmouth Beach\, located on the iconic “Jersey Shore.” He does his best writing in the solitude or his tiny home office. \nAnthony is widely acclaimed for his advocacy of environmental stewardship.  His influential writings have guided and educated state legislators on the essential principles of natural resource conservation confirming his reputation as a respected author. Chris Christie\, former Governor of New Jersey\, appointed him to his Department of Environmental Protection gubernatorial transition team. \nAnthony’s diverse background also includes a short career as a singer and songwriter with hits that charted in the top ten in secondary radio music markets.
