SUMMARY:Living History: George Washington
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column icons_position=”left”][vc_btn title=”REGISTER HERE” style=”classic” color=”info” size=”lg” align=”center” css=”” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fforms.gle%2F2GjRQqRVd4azqLPD9|title:Living%20History%3A%20George%20Washington|target:_blank”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1768155686162{margin-right: 25px !important;margin-left: 25px !important;}”] \nGeorge Washington – as portrayed by Doug Thomas\nGeorge Washington\, General\, and future First President\, remained faithful to the principles of Independence for which he and his country had fought. After leading the 13 Colonies to Independence from Great Britain\, he presided over the Constitutional Convention that would establish the new Republic of the United States as a Nation of Laws under a Representative Democracy. \nLeading by example\, Washington resigned his commission as Commander in Chief of the Continental Army and then declined a possible third term as President. His well-earned retirement to his beloved Mount Vernon lasted less than 3 years\, but he and Martha enjoyed living beneath “fig and vine” together until his death in 1799. Audiences will enjoy a view into the thoughts and actions of a man whose public life we all have heard so much about\, but whose private life was just that\, very private. \n  \nThursday\, February 5th\, 2026 @ 6 PM \nTaylor Pavilion\, 500 Ocean Ave. N\, Belmar \n  \n  \nFREE & OPEN to the public \nSeating limited\, registration required  \n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space hide_on_wide=”” hide_on_desktop=”” hide_on_notebook=”” hide_on_tablet=”” hide_on_mobile=””][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/6″ icons_position=”left”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2/3″ icons_position=”left”][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/VJ8uBRZlZ5A?si=XZ228oKI6GSomlgJ” css=””][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/6″ icons_position=”left”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row content_placement=”middle” hide_bg_image_on_tablet=”” hide_bg_image_on_mobile=”” css=”.vc_custom_1735483771741{margin-right: 25px !important;margin-left: 25px !important;}”][vc_column fix_column=”” hide_bg_image_on_tablet=”” hide_bg_image_on_mobile=”” icons_position=”left” css=”.vc_custom_1735407634847{margin-right: 25px !important;margin-left: 25px !important;}”][vc_btn title=”REGISTER HERE” style=”classic” color=”info” size=”lg” align=”center” css=”” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fforms.gle%2F2GjRQqRVd4azqLPD9|title:Living%20History%3A%20George%20Washington|target:_blank”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column icons_position=”left”][vc_empty_space hide_on_wide=”” hide_on_desktop=”” hide_on_notebook=”” hide_on_tablet=”” hide_on_mobile=””][/vc_column][/vc_row]

She was New England born\, the second daughter of a parson\, and\, in her own words “destitute in every part of education”. Thomas Jefferson was the highly educated\, privileged first son of a wealthy Virginia planter. Their spheres should never have brought them together in friendship\, but the extraordinary events of their lifetimes brought these two highly intelligent people into a friendship of conversation and correspondence that would provide posterity with a unique conversation about: \n\nthe different roles\, expectations of\, and opportunities for men and women in the 18th century\nthe different economies of the northern and southern states during the founding years\nthe developing\, opposing political views of the new nation\nthe necessity to maintain civil and cordial conversation in the face of vastly differing experiences and opinions.\n\nTopics of debate will include women’s rights\, Shay’s Rebellion\, sedition\, immigration\, presidential powers\, Supreme Court appointments\, and other issues. \nSaturday\, February 21st\, 2026 @ noon \nTaylor Pavilion\, 500 Ocean Ave. N\, Belmar \n  \nFREE & OPEN to the public \nSeating limited\, registration required  \n[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/6″ icons_position=”left”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/6″ icons_position=”left”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″ icons_position=”left”][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/Lp4eetdj1oE?si=V8anjw9Vq1tC0Xel” css=””][vc_empty_space hide_on_wide=”” hide_on_desktop=”” hide_on_notebook=”” hide_on_tablet=”” hide_on_mobile=””][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/6″ icons_position=”left”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row content_placement=”middle” hide_bg_image_on_tablet=”” hide_bg_image_on_mobile=”” css=”.vc_custom_1735483771741{margin-right: 25px !important;margin-left: 25px !important;}”][vc_column fix_column=”” hide_bg_image_on_tablet=”” hide_bg_image_on_mobile=”” icons_position=”left” css=”.vc_custom_1735407634847{margin-right: 25px !important;margin-left: 25px !important;}”][vc_btn title=”REGISTER HERE” style=”classic” color=”info” size=”lg” align=”center” css=”” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fforms.gle%2FB2udbKo4V8eAeqss6|title:Living%20History%3A%20Thomas%20Jefferson%20and%20Abigail%20Adams|target:_blank”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column icons_position=”left”][vc_empty_space hide_on_wide=”” hide_on_desktop=”” hide_on_notebook=”” hide_on_tablet=”” hide_on_mobile=””][/vc_column][/vc_row]
