2025 Belmar Public Library  Beach Reader’s Local Author Book Fair Rules & Regulations

The Belmar Public Library is excited to announce the call for Authors to participate in the Spring Belmar Beach Reader’s Book Fair featuring Local Jersey Shore Region Authors.

General Rules

Organizer: Luis B. Pulido, Library Assistant, Belmar Public Library

The 2025 Spring Beach Reader’s Book Fair is scheduled for Saturday, April 26, 2025, beginning at 12 pm through 4 pm.

This event will be at Taylor Pavilion, 500 Ocean Ave., Belmar.

This event can now accommodate a maximum of 40 Authors.

The DEADLINE to REGISTER is Monday, March 31, 2025, or when capacity of 40 authors is reached, whichever comes first.

There is no fee to participate, nor will the Library demand a portion of sales revenue.  Authors may keep all sales proceeds they generate.

Authors will be permitted to sell their books to visitors, but are fully responsible for handling purchase transactions on their own.

The venue will have free wifi internet access if needed.

The Library does require a complimentary copy of their book, if they have not already provided one.

***PLEASE NOTE: The Belmar Public Library reserves the right to refuse participation by an author as a result of violation of these Rules and Regulations.

Author Application Process

Authors who wish to participate must have a published title, either through an established publisher or self-published.  No manuscripts or unpublished drafts.  Authors must have printed copies of books to display for sale.  No digital only titles will be accepted.

Author’s titles may either be Fiction on Non-Fiction and may be of any genre EXCEPT:

  1. Topics that are sexual, pornographic or obscene in nature
  2. Topics that promote hate, intolerance or discriminatory concepts or themes

Priority will be given to Authors based throughout the Jersey Shore Region.

Authors wishing to participate should fill out the online Application Form at: https://forms.gle/YY4RKeQPwhk1XiGy9, and must submit an email to lpulido@belmar.com with the following information and attachments:

  1. Headshot photo of the Author
  2. Descriptive text about the book
  3. Author Bio
  4. Good quality photo of the book’s front and back covers.

Event Promotion

Events will be promoted through all regular Library social media and local press channels:

  1. Library Website
  2. Library Facebook Page plus 10+ FB County wide groups
  3. Library Patch.com
  4. Library NextDoor.com
  5. Library internal signage and flyers
  6. Press Releases to The Coast Star, Asbury Park Press and TAPInto.net.

Authors will be provided with promotional materials, both general and author specific.  It is strongly recommended that each author share these throughout their social media networks to maximize reader awareness.

Day of the Event

Each Author will be assigned a table space on a first come, first served basis, up to 40.

Each author will have a 6’ table assigned to them.  Authors will be free to decorate and setup their table however they wish, so long as their setup does not interfere with their neighbors.

Some Authors who register later in the process may be directed to bring your own table, as there may be a limit to available tables at the venue.  Be prepared for this possibility.  If you wish to bring your own table regardless, no problem, simply let me know.

Each author will be given two chairs, so you may bring a partner, spouse, child or other acquaintance to sit with you.

IMPORTANT:

  • Only ONE author per table, please.
  • ONLY authors that have registered in advance with myself will be permitted to display and sell books at this event. DO NOT bring unregistered Authors in the hope of “sharing” your table.
  • Stick to your assigned tables.  DO NOT relocate to other tables to be near other Authors.
  • DO NOT combine your setup with another Author and “share” tables.  That leaves unsightly gaps in the lineup for visitors.

There will be NO events or activities that may distract patron’s attention away from you and your books.

Success for you equals greater notoriety and publicity of yourselves as an author and $$$ in book sales.

Success for the Belmar Public Library is growing our reputation as an organizer of events and programs that support local Authors in your efforts to achieve a greater level of success.

Any and all questions should be directed to Luis Pulido, Library Assistant, Belmar Public Library at lpulido@belmar.com or 732-681-0775.
