Saturday, October 17, 2026

12 Noon – 4 PM

Taylor Pavilion, 500 Ocean Avenue, Belmar, NJ

Celebrate Local Authors, Local Stories, and the Joy of Reading

Join the Belmar Public Library for the 2026 Sand, Sweaters & Stories Beach Readers’ Book Fair, a unique community event that brings together readers and writers from across the Jersey Shore for an afternoon of literary discovery.

Featuring more than 40 local authors, the fair offers visitors the opportunity to browse and purchase a wide variety of books spanning fiction, nonfiction, memoir, history, mystery, romance, children’s literature, and more. Whether you are searching for your next great beach read, a thoughtful gift, or an opportunity to meet the person behind a favorite book, you’ll find something for every interest and age.

Meet the Authors Behind the Stories

One of the most rewarding aspects of the book fair is the chance to speak directly with authors about their work, inspiration, and writing journey. Visitors can meet established and emerging writers from communities throughout the Jersey Shore region, learn about their creative process, and discover books they may not find in traditional retail settings.

Supporting Local Authors

The Belmar Public Library is proud to support local authors and independent writers. In today’s publishing environment, authors face increasing challenges in reaching readers and marketing their work. Many talented writers invest countless hours researching, writing, editing, and publishing their books, only to find that gaining visibility in a crowded marketplace can be difficult.

The Sand, Sweaters & Stories Beach Readers’ Book Fair provides local authors with a welcoming venue to showcase their work, connect directly with readers, build their audience, and strengthen the literary culture of our region. By attending the event, visitors not only discover new books—they also help support the creative efforts of writers who enrich our communities through storytelling, scholarship, and the sharing of ideas.

A Celebration of Reading and Community

Libraries have long served as places where stories connect people, ideas spark conversations, and communities come together. This event celebrates those traditions by creating a space where readers and writers can meet, share experiences, and foster a greater appreciation for local literature.

Whether you’re an avid reader, an aspiring writer, a supporter of local arts and culture, or simply looking for an enjoyable autumn afternoon, we invite you to join us for this special event.

Come discover new authors, explore new ideas, and celebrate the power of books at the shore.
